Chassis
The frame which underpins the Grom is stripped down to the bare minimum. The steel frame that is used comes from a mono-backbone construction which uses the engine as a stressed member and a box-section swingarm articulates for the rear suspension action. Thanks to this setup, one can expect an agile bike. Considering the small size of the motorcycle, one would struggle to find USD forks.
Even though a lot of people consider the 2018 Honda Grom to be a monkey bike, there are a lot of differences between the two. For instance, the Grom uses 10-spoke, cast rims capped by 12-inch hoops. With the new model, Honda replaced the drum brakes with the hydraulic discs, improving the brake system significantly. There is no such thing as ABS or linked-brake system, which only proves that Honda wants to make the Grom “seriously fun.”
